Synopsis: The yearning for an ethical and value based life on the one hand and lustful society on the other – amidst the conflict of these two ideologies how a soft, tender mind can be shattered: “Mriganabhi” is only a glaring example of such a situation.

THE STORY: In our society, there are not many sensitive soul who really understand the tragedy and pain a deprived woman. The heroine and protagonist of the piece—Xuntora soon realises that this at a very early age. As the story proceeds, Xuntora matures into a woman. Keeping up with the customs of the society, Xuntora’s parents fix her marriage. Her husband turns out to be a proud, wealthy man with a very boisterous attitude. After marriage, she realises that as a woman she has no liberty at all. She is just a lifeless soul and mentally tormented as she has no right to express her opinion.  

She is thus married to a wealthy, unfaithful and lecherous husband who is also a owner of a huge landed property. He is a tea planter who is killed by one of the tea labourers for destroying the virginity of a girl nof atea community. Xuntora is pregnant with his chind when she is windowed. Her life now turns miserable. After the death of her husband Xuntora’s dislike towards ds materialistic pursuits become more pronounced, a complete juxtaposition to the life of greed, luxury and comfort practiced by her in-laws. One day returns to her father’s house with her son, Xunmoni.  Again Xuntora finds herself in the same situation which her grandmother Ramen Aita, whom she had met in her childhood., had found herself in. But unlike Ramen Aita, she masters all the courage and will power to begin a new chapter in her life, fighting against all odds. Her desire to curve out a strong identity of her own, makes her survive against all odds in her life. How did Xuntota meet the crises in her life? What happened to her after that?

Shri Bishnu Deka is a young entrepreneur, who loves to spend his leisure acting. He performed in many stage plays, short films, T.V Serials etc. Inspired by a desire to produce a good Movies, he has embarked on this new venture – the production of ‘Mriganabhi’ (Musk).

 

Director’s Details

HEMEN DAS (Director)

Mr. Hemen Das is a well-known Actor, Writer, Critic, Stage and Film Director. He received the National Cine Award. ‘Rajat Kamal’ for his feature film ‘Jooj’ (the fight) in 1990. Also he got the ‘Silpi Pension’ and ‘Literary Award’ from the Government of Assam.

He was a Jury Member for the National Film Award as well as for the Feature and Non-feature category, also the Critics Jury for the 13th International Children’s Film Festival, India. He was an Ex-Board Member of Central Board of Film Certifications, an Executive Council and General Body Member of Children’s Film Society, India. He is contributing literary, cultural and thought provoking articles in daily’s, periodicals and journals of the State of Assam. His published book ‘Natya Silpi’, ‘Pom Khedi’, ‘Cinema Cinema’, ‘Abhinay’, Akonibat – Cinema Nirman Koro Aha’, ‘Chalachitra Prasangat’ and ‘Sitrachinta’ based on Drama, Acting and Film art are considered to be more significant.
